Onigiri

       Onigiri is a Japanese food made from white rice formed into triangular shapes often wrapped in Nori (seaweed). In Philippines we had rice wrapped in banana leaves or coconut leaves but here in Japan we usually have Nori o seaweed.
      Onigiri is filled with pickled ume ( Umeboshi), salted salmon, kasuobushi, kombu, tarako or any salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. Most convenient stores sells here in Japan. This is Japanese staple food and because of its popularity trend in Japan. It become a popular staple in Japanese Restaurant worldwide.
     Onigiri making is fun and we can make our own with designs. Creativity is also fun in making Onigiri. And there is more we can filled our Onigiri with our favorite dish or left over food. As a Filipino we can filled our Onigiri with Adobo chicken or Lechon Pork. Just enjoy making  and enjoy eating Onigiri.
