Things to consider when you are planning for a trip in Japan

Japan is a beautiful place for travel. There are things to consider when you are planning a trip to Japan.

1. Budget - You should have a budget or money to travel for your payment of the plane ticket, Visa, hotel, food and etc.

2. Schedule - Your availability time to travel.

3. Visa - You must comply with all requirements required by the Japanese Embassy.
           - Review carefully your documents if there is misspelled on your names or mistakes writing your documents.

4. Hotel - Book ahead of time to make sure you have a place to stay in Japan. If peak season many tourists come to Japan for a tour. You may regret if you don’t book ahead of time of your travel. Or else you may regret of having a book an expensive hotel. Check for Capsule hotel or Backpackers hotel to save you money.

5. Iterinary of your Travel- You should decide where you go. For example, in Osaka City, usually, tourist goes to Universal Studio Japan, Dotonbori, and etc. For Kyoto City, they usually go to visit temples, Arashiyama and etc. For Tokyo city, they usually go to Tokyo Disneyland.

6. Time - Time is very important in Japan when you travel by plane, train, bus, and taxi. You must be aware of time because in Japan is Gold for example for Bus if you are late within 1 minute. You are going to wait for next trip of the bus for (1) one hour.

7. Food - You should try Japanese food like Ramen, Gyoza, Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Ice cream, Matcha desserts and drinks, and etc.  You might be surprised how beautiful presentation of food because of its arts, designs, colorful, and aroma of the food especially the desserts, cakes, pastries, Japanese cake and etc. For me, I like Japanese Strawberry Shortcake, Matcha Cake, and Japanese Cheesecake. Before the closing time of supermarket, they have a half price or discounts on food. You should check if the food has a sticker like this. It means the price of the food is half price.

8. Medicine - You must bring your medicines to enjoy your travel in Japan.

9. Friend - You must have a friend stay in Japan in a case of emergency when you travel in Japan. A friend you can contact or ask her/him.

10. Smartphone - Smartphone for Wi-Fi. This is important; especially you can have access thru your phone for Google Map and Google language translation to Japanese.

11. Abide the rules in Japan -
You must be aware of rules in Japan. You must know what are Do`s and Don’ts in Japan, for example, using a smartphone for Selfie inside the train station. It’s prohibited for making noise inside the bus or train, Littering, and Loitering in some places. And etc.

12. Ask - If you have questions and inquiries that you are not familiar or you don`t have any idea how it works just ask for someone in Information Center or Japanese People. Japanese people are also good in English. Just try to have a simple conversation with them and be surprised how warm they are entertaining some questions from tourist or foreigner living in Japan.

Please take note the things to consider when you are planning a trip to Japan. Make your trip hassle free, convenient and also save you money. I hope these can help you for traveling to Japan. This is friendly tips from Pinoy Living in Japan. Enjoy your trip to Japan! :)

Onigiri

ONIGIRI
Beef Sukiyaki with Egg Sauce
Onigiri

Onigiri is a Japanese food made from white rice formed into triangular shapes often wrapped in Nori (seaweed). In Philippines we had rice wrapped in banana leaves or coconut leaves but here in Japan we usually have Nori o seaweed.
Onigiri is filled with pickled ume ( Umeboshi), salted salmon, kasuobushi, kombu, tarako or any salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. Most convenient stores sells here in Japan. This is Japanese staple food and because of its popularity trend in Japan. It become a popular staple in Japanese Restaurant worldwide.
Onigiri making is fun and we can make our own with designs. Creativity is also fun in making Onigiri. And there is more we can filled our Onigiri with our favorite dish or left over food. As a Filipino we can filled our Onigiri with Adobo chicken or Lechon Pork. Just enjoy making  and enjoy eating Onigiri.
